    • Abstract:
Part of a special issue on Amiri Baraka. Amiri Baraka's unpublished papers demonstrate how much he denied himself materially because of his decision to guard the integrity of his artistic explorations. In the absence of a published volume of fiction in the years following the publication of Tales, many have assumed that Baraka turned his back on fiction in the 1970s. However, although he relinquished the chance to become the Godfather of the Black Arts, his unpublished pieces contain much that is of interest. A number of Baraka's unpublished fictions are discussed.
