    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the role of editors in the Middle English. According to the author, literary work continues today, though a formidable amount of editing of Middle English texts had occurred by the end of the nineteenth century, in part because of projects like the Early English Text Society. The author opines that although early editors are unlikely to have seen poems as a unified subgenre of romance, they are a useful group for considerations.
