      A literary criticism of the book "Bats Out of Hell" by Barry Hannah is presented. Particular focus is given to the short story "Evening of the Yarp: A Report by Roonswent Dover which tackled the viability of regional studies in a postmodern culture. It also explores how Hannah tackled the concepts of the real, the surreal, and the hyper-real in relation to contemporary rethinking of regionalism.
