    • Abstract:
An analysis of the short story "The Jolly Corner" by Henry James is presented. It examines how the story reflects James' version of a doppelganger tale that was popular in supernatural fiction. Particular attention is given to how James uses architectural renewal and estate houses to reflect the theme of psychic uncertainty and the transformation of personality.
