    • Abstract:
A literary analysis of the short story "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe is presented. The author argues that the character Roderick Usher should be considered the hero of the story and demonstrates courage, devotion, and chivalry through concern for his twin sister Lady Madeline Usher. The article goes on to suggest that Roderick's goal was to prevent his sister's corpse from being stolen by "resurrection men" who sold bodies to medical schools during the 18th and 19th centuries.
