      A criticism is presented of several short stories by the American author Raymond Carver, including "Why Don't You Dance?," "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love” and "The Bath." Carver's depiction of men's friendship and bonding in his stories, including in regard to American masculinity, drinking alcohol and bathroom behavior, is discussed. The portrayal of husband and wife relationship in Carver's stories is also discussed.
