    • Abstract:
      A literary criticism is presented of the 1751 English novel "The History of Miss Betsy Thoughtless," by Eliza Haywood. Particular focus is given the novel's depiction of women's sexuality, including in regard to femininity and women's seeking of sensuous pleasure. The portrayal of desire within the book is discussed.
