    • Abstract:
The article cites a nutritional status survey of preschool Head Start children in three Chippewa communities in northern Wisconsin. The survey was participated by sixty-seven children enrolled in the three Head Start programs. Most of the children were from low income families and were of Chippewa and Caucasian extraction. The five components of the survey involve health, biochemical, anthropometric, dietary, and parenting. In the medical examination, the examining physician found no clinical symptoms of malnutrition. The biochemical assessment of nutritional status, on the other hand, indicated that only two of 64 children had whole blood ascorbic acid levels below 0,6 milligrams/100 milliliter.
