    • Abstract:
This article discusses Appalachian author James Still (1906-2001) and his time as a lecturer and writer-in-residence at Morehead State University in Kentucky in the 1960s. Still's early involvement with the school's summer writers' workshop in the 1950s is discussed, as are the efforts of Morehead president Adron Doran to get him to join the faculty. His teaching and mentoring duties are discussed, as is the establishment of the James Still Room in the college library, which also maintained and continues to maintain Still's manuscript collection.
