Chapter XXXIV of the book "APRIL HOPES," by William Dean Howells is presented. It presents a confrontation between Dan Mavering and his mother, before bedtime, talking about Dan's falling in love with Alice Pasmer and dealing about the latter's personality. On the other hand, a conversation between Alice and her mother regarding the family of Dan and his personality is also presented.
