- Abstract:
The article discusses an alternative view in cancer growth that suggests that stem cells in malignant tumors may be the cause for the spread of the disease. An example is given of a patient suffering from cancer related to bone marrow stem cell changes. Topics include the division and renewal processes of stem cells in the origin of liquid and solid tumors, clinical evidence suggesting that the cells survive treatments like chemotherapy, and debate among cancer researchers and oncologists over changing therapies and medication according to the stem cell model.
