- Abstract:
The article examines the wage changes of skilled and unskilled manual workers over the period 1950 to 1973 to discover if a national wage round exists in Great Britain. The evidence for the 1950s is reexamined and the analysis brought up to date. The study concentrates on the nationally negotiated wage rates of manual workers which a number of recent studies have shown to be of major importance. The article rejects the simple view that a wage round exists if a similarity is observed in either the size or timing of wage settlements, or if the same group regularly settle together.
