The article presents information on Carnevor, a fashionable steakhouse recently designed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by Rocco Laudizio. After reinventing a steakhouse in his own city a few years ago, Chicago, Illinois-based Laudizio has already proved that meat and potatoes establishments don't have to be stodgy. At Carnevor, he continues to push the envelope even with an "insanely fast" time limit, he had just 60 days to come up with the design and another 70 to build the minimal space with inventive touches. A massive wooden door leads guests into the wooden rectangular space that has a warm glow because of the uplighting from the sidewall. Ribs in the ceiling are reminiscent of tree chunks. It is almost like the belly of a dinosaur. Instead of placing tables against walls, Laudizio clustered them in the middle, preferring to use wall space as spacious walkways. Authentic outdoor references continue at the bathroom doors, which are concealed by slender tree branches, handpicked, fireproofed, and clear-coated.
