  The article provides an overview of the trends in the telecommunications industry in the U.S. through 1977. Above-trend earnings growth by the major telephone holding companies is expected to extend for the remainder of 1976. Cyclical strength in toll call volume continued during the second and third-quarters of 1976. Dividend payments are projected to grow through 1977.
