The article examines the on-stage performances of sociologist and performance artist Kimberly Dark, based on the politics of the ordinary and familiar. It explores the tensions evoke by the performances of Dark in her audiences, citing how Dark makes audiences realize the complexity and humanity of people. The potential role of performance art to function as a consciousness-racing tool to provoke personal examination of prejudice and stereotypes is discussed.
