- Abstract:
Review of the Armand Hammer Museum of Art and Cultural Center, opened last November in Los Angeles, costing nearly $100 million (paid for by Occidental Petroleum Corp. shareholders), the vainest museum in America. The museum building was designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes and displays the Hammer collection of junk: a mishmash of second- or third-rate work by famous names. Perhaps he liked sentimental kitsch. Lawsuit over disposition of the works.
