    • Abstract:
A literary criticism of the novel "Delta Wedding," by Eudora Welty is presented. The author examines how various female characters in the work are connected through maternal themes that explore the relationship between race, class, gender, motherhood and the sexual and maternal rights of women. It examines how one character's pregnancy speaks to the unavoidable violence of southern United States racial and sexual stratification.
