    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the two proposed African American immersion schools which include the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and the Fulton Middle School at the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) in Wisconsin. The proposed schools are designed to fit the needs of the African American students. Although the two schools would be open to all students in the city, it would primarily provide an academic challenge to male students. In sum, the goal of the immersion schools is to a provide a setting that would systematically connect the total schooling experience of African American children. Despite the controversy over the proposal, the teachers, parents and other members of the school community have combined their efforts for the implementation of the proposal.
